Doctoral studies

On these pages, you will find information about doctoral studies at the Department of Chemistry (KILU), whether you are a doctoral student, a supervisor, or a department representative.

As a doctoral student at the Department of Chemistry, you are affiliated either to LTH or to the Faculty of Science. The regulations differ slightly between these faculties, and you can find information on their respective websites.

All doctoral students at KILU have a main supervisor and one or more assistant supervisors. An department representative (IR) is appointed for each doctoral student. In addition to the research studies, doctoral students may be involved in various types of departmental duties, such as teaching. However, this should not exceed 20 percent of their time, and the doctoral student's time is extended accordingly.

KILU has a research school called QDETAILSS, which is open to all doctoral students with research tasks related to chemistry. Admission takes place every autumn. QDETAILSS offers general skill courses relevant to chemists, and some of these are mandatory for doctoral students at KILU. The research school provides excellent opportunities to get to know other doctoral students.

KILU offers a large number of doctoral courses, some of which are offered regularly, while others are provided as needed.

You can find our course offerings on our English-language external website.

There are also courses available at both faculties and within other research schools, as well as centrally at Lund University.
